MUSEUM  COLLECTIONS IN THREE GALLERIES

The series below explores artworks Real versus Imagined, Old versus New, displayed in the same Virtual Museum space. While the work comprises six individual videos and each of the videos can be viewed in any order as a complete and separate sequence, the work should be viewed in concept as a singular integrated artwork.

The installation toured in Video 1, is an exhibition of sixteen classical and neo-classical sculptures, existing Real art pieces scanned from the collections at the Getty Museum, the Gerber collection and elsewhere, situated in each of three virtual galleries. This is followed by three Videos 2,3, and 4, visiting each of the three galleries in turn, to observe the process of Transitions from the original Real sculptures to New virtual sculptures. The Virtual Museum now displays sixteen original contemporary art pieces conceived and produced by me. A tour of the completed installation of the New contemporary works mounted in each gallery can be viewed in Video 5.  Video 6 is a Collage of the sixteen Transitional works of art with musical accompaniment, an extemporaneous creation played by me. (Music control is at lower right side of the Collage video).  The Collage summarizes the Transitions, but also provides an opportunity to reflect on comparisons, how we feel about the Old and the New, and ponder our concepts of existential reality.

Who is to say our perceptions of objects are any more real than the virtual reality of perceptions created in our imagination?
